As of July 1, 2018, Eric Bentley was called to MSBC as the Pastor to Students. Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ouachita Baptist University, where he double majored in Theology and Ministry. He plans to complete his Master’s degree from Moody Bible Institute by 2020. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Biblical Exposition degree program.
Eric is engaged to Kaylie Roberts and will be marrying her on November 17, 2018. Eric and Kaylie started dating in tenth grade, after meeting at a fall youth camp that they both attended. It is Eric and Kaylie’s desire to see students’ lives impacted within the church and to see those students impact the lives of others outside the church as well.
Eric plans to help the youth grow by following the principles found in Deuteronomy 6 and helping the students and parents build a Deuteronomy 6 foundation in the home. His goal is to help equip parents to disciple their students and help students understand the importance of being receptive to their parents’ leadership. Eric is also very passionate about small groups and will seek to get students placed in small groups so that they have other students there to support them in their life journey.

Lana is currently serving as Children’s Director of MSBC. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is a retired kitchen hostess and preschool children’s assistant director, and she has now dedicated her life to caring for her grandchildren while her children teach in a classroom of their own. Lana began her career in children’s ministry over 30 years ago in a Christian preschool program. She started out as the teacher of the 2-4 year old class and eventually became assistant director of the preschool. Lana’s vast experience in children’s ministry, her great love for children, and her commitment to serve God faithfully has resulted in substantial growth in the children’s department at MSBC.
Lana’s goal is to teach children about God’s great love for them and the sacrifice that Jesus made so that they could be saved. She desires to provide learning opportunities for children of all ages, and ultimately desires to be used by God to lead boys and girls into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Lana believes that the foundation of a child’s spiritual growth and development begins at birth and that understanding continues to grow as the child matures. As a result, she believes that it is both the responsibility of the parents in the home, and the leaders of the church to teach our children the foundational elements of God’s Word at an early age.
Lana has been married to her husband Mike for 37 years. They have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Mike and Lana both share a common love for children, and together they have served in children’s ministry for the entire 37 years of their marriage. Lana is very excited about all that God has in store for the future of the church and prays for God’s guidance and favor as we strive to lead and teach the children about our Lord and Savior. Her desire is to build a firm foundation that they can continue to build on for the rest of their lives.

Associate Children’s Minister
Since August 2015 Kat has been serving MSBC as the Associate Children’s Ministry Director. Kat is also serving as the church’s preteen Sunday school teacher, and is directly responsible for teaching the truths of God’s Word to students in grades 4-6. She is a wife and mother, and a recent retiree of the United States Air Force. These days Kat is enjoying her time at home, and is still getting used to being a stay-at-home mom.
Kat has a desire to share God’s love and His Word with her preteen Sunday school class, and to make a positive impact in the lives of all of the children at MSBC. She strives to set an example for the children of what God’s love for us looks like, and how His love should translate to our love for others. Kat has been married to her husband Robert for almost 20 years. God has blessed them with two children who are both currently very active in the church’s youth program. As a deacon himself, both Robert and Kat have a burden for seeing lost souls saved and seeing adults and children of all ages transformed by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Praise Team Leader
Jacob has been serving as a Praise Team Leader at MSBC since January, 2017. Jacob gave his life to Christ when he was ten years old, and has been playing the guitar since he was twelve. Jacob began playing in the Praise and Worship team that his dad led at North 10th street Baptist Church in Blytheville, AR. At a young age he knew that God had blessed him with musical talents and it was His desire to use the gifts that God had given him to serve and glorify Him.
At the age of 18 Jacob surrendered his life to the ministry. As an 18 year old young man Jacob was not sure exactly what God had in store for His life, but he was willing to be used in whatever fashion God saw fit to accomplish His will. In January, 2017 God provided clarity to the calling on Jacob’s life, and called him to enter into a role as Prasie Team Leader at MSBC.
A verse that has always stuck out to Jacob is Psalm 95:1, which says, “O Come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” Jacob’s desire is to be able to serve, leading people in song, and singing praises to his name. He considers it both an honor and a privilege to lead the church in making a joyful noise to the rock of her salvation.
