Service in All Circumstances
Colossians 3:23-24: 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
As I prayed over this blog throughout the month of December, I was unsure about what I would write. But God used His creation to lay a message on my heart.
My husband, Mike, and I decided to take a trip to Orange Beach after the Holiday to rest, relax, and spend some time together. While we were sitting on the balcony of our condo, watching the ocean, it occurred to me that the waves continue to roll in and out whether it is cold or hot, dark or daylight, spring, summer, winter, or fall. Nothing stops the constant movement of the ocean.
I believe that this is a picture of how God wants us to desire to be in His service. When we struggle through dark times in our lives, or when we rejoice through times of light and joy, He wants us to continue to serve Him and to persistently try to reach others. Whether our hearts feel cold and tired or we feel on fire to work, He wants us to remain prayerful and to seek His will for our service. Wherever we are in our different seasons of life, God’s desire is for us to serve Him and He still wants to use us to serve in His church. There have been many times in my life, especially since my Type 1 diabetes diagnosis three years ago, that I have wanted so badly to give up and just rest. But I always hear Him tell me to keep rolling, just like the ocean waves, no matter the circumstances. So, let's keep rolling and continue to reach out to others. God has blessed us so much!
