Surrendering to Service
1 Peter 4:10-11
10As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
It is our desire at Mountain Springs to be true servants of Christ. As followers of Christ and regenerated believers we want to serve God as a church and as individuals with our time, talent, and treasure. We do these things not so we can brag about what we've done but so God will get all of the glory, honor, and praise he deserves. We invite you to come serve along with us, in hopes of reaching others for the cause of Christ.
9And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
As Christians, we believe that once God has saved us, it is our duty and responsibility to seek the lost. Jesus, our ultimate example, said Himself that He came to this earth to seek and save the lost. Understand that when we say we are seeking sinners we are referring to those sinners that have yet to be saved by grace. All of us are sinners but those that have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ have had their sins washed by the blood He shed for us on the cross. It is our goal as a church to find those people that have yet to do that and share with them the plan of salvation so they too can have the peace and joy that salvation brings.
Celebrating our Salvation
13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
We get excited about so many things in life. From football games, to deer season, to shoe sales, to T.V. shows; there are so many things in this life that we are passionate about and find excitement in. As a church we believe that salvation surpasses all of these. To think that at one time we were dead in our sins, separated from God, and awaiting Hell with a debt we could not pay; And God in His grace and mercy, sent His son become the perfect sacrifice for our sins, rose from the dead, and pay our debt. That should excite us as believers, and we never want to get to the point in our lives as a church where we stop getting excited about all the Lord has done for us. We encourage you to come celebrate God's goodness with us at Mountain Springs.
